Wright delivers the goods in Germany

DARTS: Double world champion Peter Wright cruised into the quarter-finals of the Cazoo European Championship in Dortmund last night. The Scot defeated Austrian Rowby-John Rodriguez 10-4. Rodriguez had knocked out world No 2 Gerwyn Price in the opening round but failed to replicate that form against world No 1 Wright (pictured).

Elsewhere in the last16 stage in Germany, England’s Ross Smith edged out Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh, while Danny Noppert won a last-leg decider against fellow Dutchman Vincent van der Voort.

Michael Smith beat young Northern Irishman Josh Rock 10-8, while James Wade lost to Dirk van Duijvenbode by the same scoreline.
