HOW WOULD GEN Z FARE IN THE REAL NAUGHTY NINETIES?

THE Nineties are, apparently, back. All over social media, fresh-faced Gen Z is swooning over Elizabeth Debicki’s outfits in the new series of The Crown, and bomber jackets, cycling shorts, slip dresses and cargo trousers are all the rage. Even Kate Moss is back to her old party-girl self, slurring her words at an awards ceremony. Ha! Fashion is all very well, but today’s hip young snowflakes wouldn’t last ten minutes in the actual Nineties. Back then a cup of coffee was just a coffee, phones were for speaking, not taking selfies, and if you wanted a packet of fags at 3am you had to walk to the nearest petrol station instead of summoning some poor sod on the minimum wage to bring them to you via Deliveroo. How we ever survived is a mystery – but we had an awful lot of fun.
