YOUR AMAZING BODY

EARLY humans began to kiss in order to get close enough to assess the scent of a potential partner, scientists believe. Smell gives away crucial information such as diet and presence of disease. It is thought it also helped humans work out if they were related. Studies show people emit a recognisable but subconscious smell to blood relatives. But not all humans kiss. A US study reported that less than half of all cultures kiss with their lips – though all peoples have intimate rituals which involve being physically close to a potential partner.
