Ban hunters’ trophies, says David Jason

-

SIR David Jason is urging MPs to stop safari hunters bringing back trophies of their kills.

The Only Fools And Horses star, 82, has written to all MPs asking them to vote for a Bill by Tory Henry Smith, which will be debated on Friday.

He wrote: ‘Trophy hunting is possibly the worst animal cruelty. I cannot understand why this is still legal.’

Pro-hunting groups claim it is good for wildlife conservation and funds poor communities.

But critics say there are fewer than 7,000 cheetahs and just 3,000 black rhino left. The charity LionAid warns that the number of lions in Africa is under 10,000 for the first time.
