DRUMCHAPEL SHOCK LEAGUE ONE EDINBURGH
DRUMCHAPEL UNITED produced the biggest shock of the third round ties in the Scottish Cup yesterday by defeating League One side FC Edinburgh 1-0.
Sitting mid-table in the West of Scotland First Division, Alex Docherty’s goal in the 47th minute sparked wild scenes of celebration in the home dressing room.
Elsewhere, Darvel thrashed League One Montrose 5-2 at Links Park in another stunning upset.
Cameron Eadie gave the West of Scotland side the lead, Ian McShane hit a double and Ross Caldwell and Andrew Stirling also scored.
Lowland League side Stirling University dumped out League Two Albion Rovers 1-0 after extra-time.
Cove Rangers thumped Dunipace 7-0, Bobby Linn scored twice for Arbroath in a 2-0 win at Highland League Fraserburgh and Partick Thistle eased to a 3-0 success over Kelty Hearts at Firhill.
Other Championship sides that progressed were Inverness Caley Thistle who edged out Stirling
Albion 3-2. Queen’s Park won 3-0 at Peterhead, while Raith Rovers defeated Auchinleck Talbot by the same scoreline. Hamilton beat East Kilbride 4-0 and Morton beat Queen of the South 4-1.
