MI5’s disgraced agents are back in business for the second six-episode series of the hit espionage drama starring Gary Oldman, Rosalind Eleazar and Jack Lowden (left). This time, in a story based on Mick Herron’s novel Dead Lions, the second-rate spooks, led by sarcastic, slobbish Jackson Lamb (Oldman, an anti-James Bond), get involved in a case concerning Cold War secrets that threaten to bring carnage to London. Slow Horses is stylish, funny and often thrilling, and the only criticism is that, in an era when so many series are too long, this is too short. Oldman has said that this might be his last role, and if so he will certainly go out on a high.
