Avoidable deaths in the blood scandal

Your article about the number of people affected by the blood transfusion scandal of the

1980s was sad to read. I had a transfusion in 1983 and when this story hit the headlines, I contacted my GP and asked for a blood test to rule out infection. He refused.

No wonder so many people went undetected until it was too late.
