It started so magically

WEDDING NIGHT, MAY 2018

- By Kate Mansey and Charlotte Griffiths

HAND-in-hand and seemingly without a care in the world, newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can’t contain their happiness as they take to the dance floor at their lavish wedding reception.

Showing off a series of moves, the pair can be seen twirling each other around and throwing their arms out wide, before Harry tips his wife over his arm and then moves in to whisper something in her ear.

These joyful images were released last night to accompany a new trailer promoting the final three episodes of the couple’s Netflix series.

The trailer suggests that footage of their Windsor wedding, on May 19, 2018, will be a highlight of the series, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talking about their first dance as husband and wife.

Meghan had changed into a glamorous white Stella McCartney halter-neck gown for the reception at Frogmore House on the Windsor estate and wore the late Princess Diana’s aquamarine cocktail ring.

Recalling the evening – and with Harry nodding along – Meghan reveals the song that they chose for their first dance – the rhythm and blues classic Land of 1,000 Dances by Wilson Pickett, which includes a range of different moves. ‘I just really wanted the music to be fun,’ she explains. ‘Even our first dance.

‘You’ve got to know how to pony. Mashed potato. There we go. Do the alligator.’

‘That was our first dance. Just spinning like a whirlwind. It was so great.’

A montage of wedding pictures is shown in the 44-second trailer as the couple are pictured with their guests.

It is unknown if the friends and family shown in the pictures gave permission to be included in the programme.

At one point Meghan appears to be dancing with pop legend Elton John. In another shot, shown in black and white, Harry – dressed in a black velvet jacket – poses in a line with some of his closest male friends, including Mark Dyer, a pub owner and long-time confidante and mentor, Adam Bidwell, a rugby player who once dated Katherine Jenkins, and Jack Mann, who was Harry’s ‘unofficial best man’.

Charlie Gilkes, who had previously partied with Harry at Charlie’s Battersea Bunga Bunga bar can also be seen.

However, it is notable that neither Harry’s brother William nor his sister-in-law Kate or other Royals are shown in the party scenes.
