Beale believes PSV should be worried about Rangers

-

aspects of Rangers’ performance against County, Beale had few complaints overall.

He said: ‘I thought in the first half we completely dominated and I was delighted for Kemar (Roofe) that he scored. It was also an incredible goal from James (Tavernier).

‘We conceded a goal from a set-play in midweek, so it was important to even that up in terms of being strong in their box and it was a typical Kemar finish, that typical goalscorer instinct he has.

‘We know what Kemar has been through but he’s a leader, so let’s hope he stays fit for longer.

‘It was also nice to see Tom Lawrence back. He’ll give us an extra boost in terms of quality.

‘I was looking for us to get a third before half-time but either way it was a strong performance away from home.

‘In the second half we had big chances but we didn’t always have the control I wanted though, fair play to Malky (Mackay, County manager), he changed the shape and they also stayed positive all the way through. ‘I also think their front two will be a handful for everybody in terms of their work rate, so I am delighted that we kept a clean sheet. ‘Away from home that was a good result moving forward compared to Kilmarnock, for example.’

While the first Old Firm clash of the season will be at the back of Beale’s mind, he insisted: ‘We have come out of this one with no injuries and the focus now is on a really difficult and hugely exciting game in midweek.’

Counterpart Mackay reflected: ‘I thought we started well on the front foot for the first 15 minutes but I was disappointed with the next half-hour when we allowed Rangers to establish a routine and get into their rhythm.

‘We didn’t get high enough to make it more difficult for them. But I can’t complain about the goals we lost, they were a bit of quality on the part of both scorers.

‘But at half-time I talked about us being braver and taking the game to Rangers — and we made a couple of tweaks to the system and did that.

‘Jordan (White) had a great chance with a header a few minutes in and you have to take them against the Old Firm. Rangers were clinical.

‘But certainly in the second half we pushed and were really aggressive and I know that’s what is going to see us through the season.’
