Swift’s gifts... £580m Taylor dishes out a fortune to food banks in cities on her tour

- By Dolly Busby

HER sell-out Eras tour looks set to become the most profitable of all time, raking in £2billion in ticket sales.

But Taylor Swift has also been giving away vast sums to charities in each of the 20 states where she’s performed on the North American leg of her world tour.

The singer asked charities not to reveal the amounts she donated but they appear to be huge sums. Feeding Tampa Bay, a food bank in Florida, said her generosity would provide 125,000 meals.

Seattle wrote: ‘They’ve asked us not to share the number with you, but I can tell you the donation will provide thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables to our more than 400 food banks across Western Washington.’

In Pittsburgh, a food bank said: ‘Her donation will ensure thousands of our neighbours have the food they need to thrive.’

And Santa Clara food bank in California thanked her for helping them feed the 500,000 people they assist each month, adding that her gift inspired a flurry of contributions from fans, too, with donations jumping by 43 per cent. Ms Swift – who has a personal fortune estimated at £580million – has also been generous to those working on the tour, paying out bonuses totalling £43million to performers and crew. And she surprised the trucking staff by giving them each a ‘life-changing’ £79,000.

She also paid more than £86,000 last week to book 197 rooms for one night at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico for her crew.

The Eras tour is due to hit the UK next summer and charities in the cities she plays here will be hoping she continues with her generous donations. When tickets went on sale last month, the huge demand crashed ticketing sites, with hundreds of thousands of seats sold in stadiums including Wembley in London, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield and Anfield in Liverpool. Fans unable to get tickets were left ‘devastated’ with some said to have suffered anxiety attacks.

Ms Swift showed her philanthropic side during the pandemic when she and her mother donated £39,000 to a mother of five who lost her husband to the virus.

She also donated £784,000 to help Nashville after lethal tornadoes hit in 2020.
