I’ve never online dated, says star of rom-com about... online dating!

- By Sally Rose

SHE has been a model, author, fashion designer and Washington wife.

Now Scotland’s queen of reinvention Louise Linton is taking on a new role: as a rom-com heroine.

The 42-year-old has just released Chick Flick – a film written by, directed by and starring herself.

The movie is about the perils of online dating although Ms Linton – who married former US Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin six years ago – admits it is not something she has ever tried.

The filmmaker, whose family own Melville Castle just outside Edinburgh, has often found herself in the spotlight since moving to the US to embark on an acting career at the age of 19.

As well as modelling for magazines such as Maxim, she founded a fashion line selling shoes branded with her initials and even penned a memoir about her ‘gap year’ in Zambia.

Her latest film was released this month with Ms Linton playing Claire, a jilted fashion columnist who publicly calls out love rats until her old flame Kyle, played by Mad Men’s Sam Page, resurfaces.

She said: ‘I wrote a movie about online dating and I’ve actually never done it. I met my husband the old school way.

‘I’ve had some horrible dates but it was more talking to friends who had horrific nightmares being catfished or really liking someone and then never hearing from them again and getting ghosted.

‘I thought it was a fun and really relatable area to explore as there are over 50 million Americans on online dating platforms. I just love making movies. It’s everything I dreamt of as a child.’
