JSO will feel the heat if they ruin summer breaks
Following your investigation which revealed that Just Stop
Oil (JSO) and other eco-zealots plan to infiltrate airport jobs to cause chaos for those going on summer holidays, I hope they are brave enough to stand between 200 people waiting to board an aircraft for their annual trip to the Costas.
I don’t fancy their chances for one minute.
Stopping someone getting to work is one thing – stopping them getting some sun will be another!
Terry Coates, Birmingham
I assume that these eco-zealots will be holidaying in their own back gardens without the benefit of sunscreen to avoid damage to the planet.
Paul Morley, Skipton,
North Yorkshire
If these protests go ahead, the airlines should sue them for every penny their disruptions cost. When the eco-zealots start getting their homes repossessed, they might just start to behave.
Dave Smith, Solihull
Have they actually looked at the data? The UK is one of the best countries for using renewable energy, especially wind farms. Why not demonstrate in countries that are not trying to reduce the use of oil?
Stephanie Davies, Durham
JSO have got a point. I’m all for a bit of choice but if we stay in the UK we do use less energy for travel and thereby reduce our impact on the planet. Climate change is a difficult problem, and we don’t like being told what to do but carrying on as normal is not really an option.
S. Mitchell, Bath
If JSO targeted celebrities’ private jets, I’m not sure anyone would have a problem with it and it would be addressing the issue directly. However, targeting the everyman trying to take his kids on a summer holiday will not win any sympathy.
N. Brown, Essex
Airports need to have a foam spraying vehicle out at all times, and if any protesters do manage to get onto the runway, just spray them.
Michael Harris, Manchester
The UK has given these and other zealots so much freedom that they now have the power to more or less do whatever they fancy.
Thomas Connolly, Cadiz, Spain
If JSO’s demands were met, millions of Britons would die following the collapse of our society. Our modern world depends on oil-derived plastics. In years to come, the real heroes will be the scientists who make plastics, or their replacements, eco-friendly. It’ll be those who find ways to clean our oceans and safely reuse or dispose of the mountains of discarded items we produce every year.
