‘Snooty’ Blue Peter deserves a happy 60th birthday
SIR I WOULD like to wish Blue Peter a happy 60th birthday this month.
It has been so enduring over the years, but I’m really sorry that I wasn’t more attracted to it as a child – I preferred Magpie on the opposite channel.
It seemed to appeal more to the masses – with Tommy Boyd and Jenny Hanley presenting.
It was more popular culture, whereas Blue Peter seemed to be more ‘snooty’ and middle class and beyond children – we never had empty yoghurt pots or sticky back plastic – it was too posh for us!
However, I do wish it a happy six decades as I did love their TV pets Shep and Petra, along with John Noakes who was an absolute legend. KEVIN MILNER Blurton Farm
