Many good, and some bad, memories of pub

-

SIR I WAS very interested in Mervyn’s Memories about pubs (TWWW October 13) as my parents were licencees of the “Lions Head” pub in John Street, Hanley.

We lived there through the war years and were there from 1940 to 1952. My parents were Alf and Annie Lilley.

A lot of things happened to me in some of those years.

I was aged 11, when we went there and nearly 23 when we left.

I got married from there, had my daughter there and my husband died there too, all that happened between 1949 and 1951.

I have a lot of memories of that pub.

I don’t suppose many people are left now who remember it, but I thought you might be interested. BETTY HUDSON Newcastle
