WITNESS APPEAL AFTER FATAL CRASH

A WOMAN died and three people were taken to hospital following a twovehicle crash on a busy rural road.

The woman - who was a passenger in one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene on the A53 between Leek and Buxton close to the Winking Man pub.

Following the crash – which took place at around 5.10pm on Saturday – the road was closed in both directions.

Now Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the crash involving a Fiat 500 and Peugeot 307.

Details of the woman’s age and where she is from have not yet been released.

Police are also yet to release information on the condition of the three other casualties.

Paramedics were also sent to the scene along with fire crews from Longnor and Leek. Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 547.
