-

CONGLETON TOWN’S remarkable record continued, their 4-0 victory at Stone Dominoes being their seventh win in a row, all away from home, and with only one goal conceded. Emini Adegbenro had a shot tipped onto the bar before the Bears went in front in the 42nd minute. Tom Schofield played the ball through to Dan Cope and he fired home from 10 yards, the sixth successive game in which he has found the net. The visitors doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half, Adegbenro finding Steve Foster in the area, and he beat a defender before slamming the ball into the net. It was 3-0 in the 66th minute. Adegbenro sent over a low cross and Cope hit a shot against the bar with the rebound striking a defender before Foster headed home. Congleton rounded it off with a fourth goal in the last minute. The ball rebounded off a defender in the box and Cope slotted home his 12th goal of the season. In the next round Congleton will be away to Abbey Hulton United. It was the second time that Stone have been beaten in the Macron Cup, having been reinstated because Ashton Town had fielded an ineligible player. ECCLESHALL were beaten 2-1 at Pershall Park by a West Didsbury & Chorlton side that had lost its previous nine games. West Didsbury took a 14th-minute lead when a low cross by Ben Woods was slid home by Kyle Pearson. Woods got onto the scoresheet himself 12 minutes later after striding through on goal and hitting a shot into the bottom corner of the net. The Eagles pulled a goal back in the 36th minute when Bradley Carr hit a shot that was deflected past keeper Marcus Burgess but they were unable to force an equaliser. SANDBACH UNITED were beaten 3-1 at Burscough. Burscough were out of the blocks quickly with Chad Whyte scoring in the third and seventh minutes, the latter after being set up by Alberto Canache. Sandbach were back in it in the 16th minute when Ryan Alcock did well down the left before squaring the ball for Billy Buckley to fire into the top corner. After the break, Jamie Clark hit the post with a free-kick for Burscough and then Alcock had a goal disallowed for offside for Sandbach as they thought they had levelled. In time added on Alcock was sent off for dissent and then Jake Chadwick brought Yves Zama down in the area and Whyte completed his hat-trick from the spot. In the Hallmark Security League Premier Division, Hanley Town ended a run of seven straight defeats with a 2-0 victory over Winsford United at Potteries Park. Hanley broke the deadlock four minutes into the second half when Lewis Salmon played a good through ball to Michael Keates and he scored with a 15-yard shot past Matthew Green. They doubled their lead three minutes from time as Luke Sutton made a good run down the left before sending over a low cross that Salmon tapped home from eight yards. Two minutes later Winsford were reduced to 10 men after an off the ball incident and then Hanley were awarded a penalty. Keates struck the bar with the spot-kick, but Hanley still gained their first win under new manager Simon Bell.
