Wonderland’s back!

-

FROM giant candy canes to a 60-metre-high sky swing, Winter Wonderland Stoke-on-trent is the ultimate place to get into the festive spirit this Christmas season. It is located on the Birch Terrace car park, opposite Hanley Bus Station.

Open daily right through until January 6, apart from Christmas Day itself, some stars of this show are a real ice rink which is undercover and weatherproof, a full-sized rollercoaster and a licensed Bavarian bar.

Santa can be found in a beautiful log cabin grotto each day.

There are also rides and attractions offering a truly unique experience that can only otherwise be seen in the capital at this time of year.

Entry is free of charge, with rides payable by token, unlimited ride wristband or on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The attraction is run by husband and wife team Michelle and Darren Matthews, pictured below, who own most of the rides themselves.

The couple are from Stoke-on-trent and were determined to bring a world-class festive attraction to their home city.

Their aim is to provide something for people of all ages - from tiny tots enchanted with the magic of Christmas to adults wanting thrill rides and warming glasses of gluhwein.

Winter Wonderland is themed throughout, with wooden deckways, a huge Christmas tree and the aromas of fresh, festive food and drink. People can have their photograph taken while riding the Crazy Mouse Coaster, visiting Santa, sitting on a giant snowman seat, or by taking to Santa’s throne. From November 24 to December 29 there will be a Christmas market on the site too, packed with festive treats and gift ideas.

The fun will continue long after Christmas Day itself, with a free fireworks celebration planned for New Year’s Eve. n Visit winterwonderlandstoke.com
