MUM-OF-THREE Shabana Younis mowed down her partner in a fit of rage.

The 31-year-old saw red when her partner rode past on his bike - without stopping to talk to her and children in the car.

She drove at him and knocked him into a hedge on July 26.

But the victim wrote a letter to the judge explaining that he caused her to behave the way she did by ‘pushing her buttons’.

Now Younis has been handed a 12-month community order at Stokeon-trent Crown Court.

The incident was captured on a homeowner’s CCTV in Woodberry Avenue, Trent Vale.

Younis, of Springfield Road, Trent Vale, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. She was originally charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm but was formally cleared of that charge.

Jason Holt, mitigating, said the complainant described the incident as a ‘moment of madness’ and completely out of character. Mr Holt said his client losing her licence has been a significant punishment for her as she has to walk 45 minutes to school and nursery with her children.

Mr Holt said: “There were problems with her partner, with him being away and her recently having major surgery. Seeing him ride past, and the children crying, she ended up acting the way she did. I ask you to take an exceptional course and pass a community order.”

Younis has also been handed a 12-month driving ban. She must also pay £300 costs. Judge David Fletcher said: “This is an unusual case of dangerous driving.

“You were the holder of a full clean driving licence.

“You were a fully licensed, fullyinsured driver who, following a perfect storm of things that were happening to you, behaved for a very tiny amount of time in a way which was extremely and highly dangerous in the way you drove your car.

“Fortunately for you the victim on his pedal cycle fell into a hedge and there was very little injury to him.”
