BANNED BIKER WAS OVER DRUG-DRIVE LIMIT
BANNED driver Michael Stevenson was spotted on a motorbike just months after being disqualified.
But the 27-year-old claimed he’d only ridden the off-road bike a short distance before deciding to push it for the rest of the journey.
Magistrates heard police saw him travelling ‘at speed’ on the A34 in Trent Vale.
Emma Thompson, prosecuting, said: “On speaking to him, they decided he was under the influence of cannabis and he provided a positive roadside drug swab.”
Officers then discovered Stevenson, of Gainsborough Road, Blurton, had been disqualified from driving in April for six months.
Stevenson admitted driving while disqualified and driving while over the drug-drive limit.
Adam Morgan, mitigating, said: “He was fixing up a bike and he asked his friend to make some minor repairs and was taking it there. He rode for a short time.”
Stevenson was given a 12-month ban and also a 12-month community order. He must also pay £135 in costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
