BEFORE the game I think most fans would have been happy with a point at Villa, but after another performance of promise, particularly in the second half, I am disappointed. We created chances and should have been 3-1 up before the equaliser went in. Again we have players bemoaning the ref’s decisions, but we really should have cut out the danger after Pieters was left on the ground. You can look at the result as a point gained an in-form Villa or two lost. Either way, the full house of away fans was entertained, which given the appalling weather was a good thing. The fact is we are nearly halfway through the season and have to start translate draws into wins if we are to make the top-six play-off places. The festive fixtures are a great place to start, followed by a freshening up of faces in the transfer window.

ANGELA SMITH, Bucknall THERE were plenty of positives to be taken from this match, although there is certainly a twinge of regret that we couldn’t hold on to our lead (twice). Stoke dominated for the majority of the game and had some spells that were arguably our best of the season. But our finishing again let us down, and we were duly punished. Despite only taking a point, this was far more enjoyable than last week’s 2-0 win over Ipswich, and if we play with the same attacking intent in the coming weeks then our unbeaten run should be flowing into the new year.

JAMES KNOWLES, Fenton Park with a draw is a decent result, but at the end of the game I felt disappointed we hadn’t won. I thought we deserved to win and, dare I say, I think this was possibly the best performance of the season. We are beginning to look like a good team who can challenge for the top six. After a slow start to the game and some short passing, it was a good performance from everyone. Joe Allen was on fire and was my man of the match again. Tom Ince makes a great difference to the team too
