THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BEHAVIOUR NEED TO GROW UP

-

HARD to understand what the teenage gang of masked yobs hoped to achieve with their appalling behaviour in Newcastle town centre on Saturday evening. They targeted the Mcdonald’s restaurant in the town centre which was full of families enjoying a tea-time of fast food. As we report today, the gang - whose faces were hidden by ‘skull balaclavas’ - spat at windows, shouted abuse and tried to force their way into the restaurant. Staff had to man the doors to prevent them getting inside.

Workers are clearly used to this kind of behaviour and have become accustomed to dealing with it themselves.

But on this occasion they were forced to call the police. Predictably, those responsible had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Some of those inside the restaurant have spoken of how frightening the situation was, while others have railed against what they described as ‘the stupid idiots.’

And that, of course, is what they are, teenagers with nothing better to do than make an absolute nuisance of themselves. But it is the kind of behaviour which will deter some from venturing into town centres in the early evening.

Some spoke of how frightened they were by what happened while others railed against the stupid idiots responsible

As we report elsewhere, there are concerns about the pressures being felt on the high street. So this kind of infantile behaviour, just doesn’t help. And it really is time for those responsible to grow up.
