ASPORTS management company has created new jobs as part of its move to another premises. Beswicks Sports has relocated to a new building on Festival Park – just two doors down from the headquarters of its sister company, Beswicks Legal.

At the same time, work has been carried out to reconfigure the office space and reception area at Beswicks Legal.

The move comes on the back of almost 30 jobs being created across both businesses in the last two years – taking the total workforce up to 70.

Managing director Gary Mellor said: “We were running out of space at the other office because Beswicks Legal has created 25 new jobs and we now have nine people working at Beswicks Sports, so we are both growing. We were operating across the bottom floor and it just got to a point where we needed to move so that both businesses could continue to grow.

“The move means that we can create even more new jobs in the next few years. We are committed to employing local people and giving graduates some really good career opportunities.”

He added: “We had been looking for a new building for a while but couldn’t find the right one, so when this one became available it was too good an opportunity to miss.

“We also have an extra 16 parking spaces which is very convenient for our clients who like to visit us and see our set-up.”

Until 1999, Beswicks Sports was a division of Beswicks Legal, dealing with clients including football legend Sir Stanley Matthews and Pakistani international cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed. But it was later established as its own entity – allowing Beswicks Sports to become a global sports management company.

Over the years it has worked with a large number of high-profile players from football, boxing and cricket – including George Groves, Geoff Cameron, and Chris Mccann. Today, around 30 per cent of the company’s business comes from North America.

Gary added: “In the last 15 years Beswicks Sports has gone from strength-to-strength. We are a truly international business and that is something that we only see continuing.

“Beswicks Sports and Beswicks Legal are two separate businesses, but we complement each other and we operate as ‘Team Beswicks.’

“So we all want to be a part of the success.”
