NOGAN: TRIO HAVE TO FORCE THEIR WAY IN TO PICTURE AT VALE

PORT Vale assistant boss Lee Nogan says there has been no fall out with David Worrall, Ricky Miller or Ben Whitfield as all three find themselves out of the side. Nogan says there is nothing personal in the team selection, but the management have to pick on form and also the players they believe will best suit their style of play. Worrall, Miller and Whitfield are three higher profile players who are currently missing out. Worrall hasn’t featured since October, Whitfield since November and Miller not since he came on as a substitute in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Stoke on December 4. Nogan said: “They have all had a run in the team and we go off what we see in training as well. If you are doing really well, you stay in the team. If you are not, you are in and out. “It is not personal, we are just trying to pick 11 players. We have 20-odd so it is always difficult when everybody is fit. So, they have chances hopefully over the next two or three weeks to stake a claim for a place in the squad or the starting eleven. But that will be up to them and how we play in the next few weeks.” The assistant boss says he and manager Neil Aspin understand players won’t be happy if they are not playing. Speaking in general, he explained: “We have all been there. When you are not playing you know you are not happy, but you just get your head down and you train hard. You have to have a good attitude and then, if it is ongoing, then I am sure players will go and see the manager and express their feelings on that. “We will do what is right for the player and the club. “At the end of the day, I think Neil has already said, if players don’t want to be here then fine. If they want to move on, that is the nature of the game.” The Valiants return to League Two action on Saturday when they are away to Macclesfield Town.
