THROWDOWN:

Aspiring potters attended a workshop at Valentine Clays in Fenton. Students on the one-day course started by kneading the clay, and were then shown how to centre the clay on the wheel, create a cylinder and how to change this into vases, mugs etc. Jon French, the potter who took the workshop, spent 29 years working for Wedgwood and now runs his own business at the Middleport Pottery.
