FORMER VALE PLAYERS AMONG THOSE LOOKING TO FIND A NEW CLUB

-

NORMALLY at this time of year, fans and managers would be looking at retained lists to see which free agents would suit their club.

But the situation is different this year because of the huge uncertainty in the lower divisions of the EFL. Clubs don’t know when next season will start having already decided they couldn’t afford to finish the 2019/20 campaign without crowds.

So, the normal transfer business of League Two is very different this summer. For example, Port Vale manager John Askey has already made it clear that, while he is talking to agents, his club isn’t in a position to sign new players until they have certainty about next season.

But even so, managers and fans will be viewing retained lists with some interest to see which players are available for when League Two football can eventually resume.
