THIS was the astonishing moment a brazen thief was caught on CCTV using a broom to steal milk from a Stoke-on-trent nursery.

The security camera footage shows a woman armed with the broom reaching under the gate of Rosy Cheeks, in Tunstall, and claiming two bottles for herself.

Owner and manager Rose Dingle was about to call the dairy to demand answers about the missing milk, when she checked the CCTV.

It showed the milk was taken at 5.10am on Monday.

Rose then shared a short video of the incident on social media.

She said: “It’s been delivered like that for nine-and-a-half years and we’ve never had a problem before.

“Whether that’s been a bit of luck I don’t know, but I have ordered a lockable parcel box we can attach to the railings.

“I reported it to the police and I understand it’s not the crime of the century and I don’t think they will do much.

“We’ve had lots of kind offers come in from people who offered to get us milk, but we bought our own from the local newsagent.

“It is quite a deprived area and I did think to myself, if it was somebody that was really struggling then leave me a note to say, ‘I’m sorry my children need milk’.

“Then I wouldn’t have minded or told the police.

“But I’ve seen some footage from

Clive Street opposite and she steals the broom from a garden and then uses it to get the milk.”

A Staffordshire Police spokesman urged anyone with information about the theft or who the woman might be to call 101.
