TEAMS SIGN UP TO BE PART OF THE NEW-LOOK STONE LEAGUE FORMATS
THE Stone and District League have finalised their plans for a shortened season, which will start this weekend.
A total of 43 out of the 48 members teams have elected to take part, with the competing sides featuring in four competitions.
Premier Division teams will contest the Pinfold Trophy, Division One are playing for the Wildblood Cup, while clubs in Sections A and B will compete for the Hassell Trophy and Spear Travels Cup respectively.
The games, which will be 35 overs per side with a maximum of seven overs per bowler, are straight win/ lose encounters.
Only six teams will be competing in the Pinfold Trophy. These are split into the following two mini groups of three:
Group A: Ashcombe, Cheadle, Knypersley. Group B: Alsager, Barlaston, Moddershall Sport Asia
Each team will play the two other teams in its mini group twice and also play the three teams in the other mini group once.
The winners of the two mini groups will play in the final scheduled to take place on September 6.
The top two teams in the Wildblood competition will contest the final on the same day.
For the Hassell Trophy and Spear
Travels Cup, the winners of the North will play the runners-up in the South in a semi-final, and vice versa.
It is hoped that all semi-finals and finals will be 40 overs per side.
The first set of fixtures will be played this Sunday. The first four rounds start at 2pm, with the last three beginning at 1.30pm.
