A Much-loved salon is welcoming customers back post-lockdown – after being taken over by new management 12 months ago.

Caroline Johnson, from Newcastle, took on TPL Salon in Beam Street, Nantwich, with her business partner last October.

The 27-year-old said it was important to keep the ‘essence’ of the salon that so many people loved – including the popular staff members and hair colour range.

TPL Salon also used their six-month closure due to the pandemic to their advantage, making sure staff were given extra training – as well as the salon undergoing a revamp.

Shortly after their reopening in July, the stylists offered an ‘NHS Day’, to give hard-working healthcare workers the chance to have a makeover.

Manager and stylist Caroline said:

“We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take on a reputable business. We wanted to keep on all the staff and it was important for us to keep the essence and image of the salon.

“We only had around five months in the salon before we had to close due to lockdown. It was difficult at first, but we decided to bring forward our revamp which we had planned for August. We tried to take advantage of the closure and put all of our time and effort into giving the salon a bit of a makeover.

“We asked the team what was important to them about the salon, and what they might like to see improved. We didn’t want to come along and completely change everything. We wanted to get to know all the stylists really well.”

TPL Salon provides consultations with clients before they undergo any cut or colour, to ensure the stylist and client are on the same page.

Caroline continued: “Our mantra is ‘family is our strength’ – because we really are like a family. The client is so important to us and we really want them to feel relaxed and comfortable in the salon. When you make that connection with them, it makes their whole experience.”

The team at TPL Salon are taking all the necessary precautions to keep their clients safe. Caroline explained: “It’s a big salon with lots of space so we are very fortunate to be able to distance well.

“We all wear visors and masks, and the client wears a mask too. We provide each client with a fresh gown and we are also trying to do card-only payments. We have taken on a lot of measures that aren’t necessarily in the guidelines but we felt it was important to implement.”
