RESTAURANT TO BE GIVEN NEW LEASE OF LIFE AFTER TAKEOVER
Ex-italian eatery to become a pub and grill
A FORMER restaurant is to be given a new lease of life as a modern country pub and grill.
The former Italian restaurant Pesto at the Davenport Arms, in Marton, near Congleton, closed before the coronavirus lockdown was imposed in March.
Now work has started on transforming the Congleton Road venue into a stunning new pub and grill.
It has been taken on by Staffordshire & Cheshire Leisure Group, and the site will now be known as The Davenport Arms.
The group already runs The Milehouse, in Newcastle, the Cheshire Grill Country Pub & Steakhouse, in Northwich and the Staffordshire Grill Country Pub & Steakhouse in Brewood.
Main meals on offer at those restaurants include steak and ale pie for £13.95, gammon and chips for £13.95, and pan-roasted duck breast for £15.95. There is also a range of steaks ranging in price from £16.95 to £29.95.
The Davenport Arms is set to open its doors this month, although an exact date will be announced closer to the time.
A number of jobs will also be created, with positions currently being advertised including assistant manager, restaurant and bar supervisor and chef.
Operations director Robert Wright said: “We’re very excited to welcome The Davenport Arms to The Grill Co. and the Staffordshire & Cheshire Leisure Group family.
“The site fits within our portfolio perfectly and we look forward to bringing another quality country pub and grill to the area.”
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the group plans to accelerate growth over the coming years, with more openings in the pipeline.
