AN ONLINE takeaway delivery service which rivals Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats is taking the world by storm - after expanding into Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Foodhub was started in 2017 by Stoke-on-trent school friends Ardian Mula and Mohammed Shakil.

The pair – who met at Brownhills High School in Tunstall – combined their individual expertise in technology and fast food to create a unique food ordering platform which gives customers access to cheaper takeaways.

Over the last three years, Foodhub has grown out of the Midlands and now boasts a network of 15,000 takeaways and restaurant partners in the UK - with demand growing day by day.

During lockdown, Foodhub saw the amount of orders placed through the site double.

And more recently, it has expanded into international territories - including Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the USA.

Foodhub director Mohammed Shakil, who lives in Tunstall, said: “Myself and Ardian went to school together and we have been friends since then. He is more into the technology and I was in the fast food industry. Between us we know the market very well.

“We work really well with each other because we understand our needs and the needs of our market, and we are very passionate about making a difference in people’s businesses. This is what drives us.

“We have been doing individual websites for takeaways and restaurants with zero commission for many years, but we felt that there was a demand in having our own portal.

“Since we started three years ago there has been a massive demand for our product.”

Foodhub is an online food ordering and delivery service which acts as an intermediary between takeaways and customers.

The Foodhub portal allows customers to input their postcode and order and pay for meals from a nearby restaurant - without having to contact the establishment directly.

Takeaway and restaurant owners pay a subscription fee to join the platform and Foodhub does not charge any commission which means customers are offered more discounts.

Mohammed said: “We don’t charge our partners any commission which means our customers can get exclusive discounts, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

He added: “We work for passion rather than money and we want to drive that in our business and help everyone else out at the same time. We are looking to hit a few more countries before the end of the year. We believe we can be game-changers.”
