‘CAR obsessed’ Jason Swiftclowes won a £51,000 ‘dream’ Mercedes in a ‘spot the ball’ competition – and bagged £70k cash into the bargain.

The video game designer received a video call to tell him the good news after spending £2 on the ticket with online competitions company BOTB.

Jason, from Congleton, was delighted after he discovered he had won the Mercedes A45S AMG in conversation with BOTB’S Christian Williams.

“You are kidding me,” Jason said. “I can’t believe this!”

Jason had been playing every week for the past three years in the hope of winning the car.

“I’m absolutely car obsessed,” added the 50-year-old.

“I already know everything there is to know about this car and I’ve wanted it for such a long time.”

BOTB – which stands for Best Of The Best – is an online competition site which gives away two cars each week as well as a lifestyle prize.

Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to Las Vegas and a gaming tech bundle.

The company, listed on the stockmarket, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £37m-worth of cars so far.

To win the prize, Jason had to guess where the ball was in a football photograph before it was edited out.

He says he chose the Mercedes after vigorous research.

“I don’t care about brands necessarily, I care about the car performance,” he explained.

“I read all the car magazines and reviews and I chose the Mercedes because it’s just a brilliant car.

“It’s got four-wheel drive, it’s fast, it’s safe but also it’s practical for the family!”

Jason is husband to Steph, aged 34, and dad to Jack, aged 25, and Finley, aged 10. He said the money would go towards house renovations and his family.

He added: “We’ve just had our kitchen done, but the rest of the house needs to follow.

“I’m sure Steph already has a list as long as her arm of things to spend it on.

“Of course, some will go to my boys too and we’re all planning on a family holiday next year!”

BOTB presenter Christian, who surprises the BOTB winners each week, said: “Looks like the BOTB winners love Mercedes – this is the fourth time I’ve surprised a winner with one since the start of the year. They are fantastic cars and I’m super happy for Jason!”
