DOG owners Charlotte and Dale Robson have appeared on national TV to tell of the moment they were reunited with their pets after they were stolen from opposite a police station.

Black labradors Delly and Wenzel went missing from outside Marks & Spencer in Beam Street, Nantwich, at around 6pm on March 27.

Dale had been out on a walk with the pair when he decided to nip into the supermarket and left them tied up outside.

But he was devastated when he left the store and discovered the beloved pets had been taken – despite the streets being busy and the shop opposite a police station.

Now Charlotte and Dale have appeared on BBC Breakfast to tell of the moment they were reunited with the dogs.

Charlotte said: We were stood in the police station and they turned up with a dog in each car and it was Welly I saw first.

“I saw him turn to me and they let them out of the car – but they ran straight to Dale.

“But I had ham and cheese in my bag so they came straight over.

“We’d seen so many pictures of beautiful labs hoping it was the boys.”

It has been a busy week especially for Welly who has had to undergo an operation.

Charlotte added: “Welly is doing well after the operation and had one as soon as he got back and it went well.

“He has one more and it’s been amazing to see them relaxed. Walking past their bowl, it makes me well up even seeing it, and we have so many people to thank.”

Dale recalled the devastating moment he had to tell Charlotte the dogs were gone.

He said: “Hindsight is a funny thing. It was a Saturday and I needed to nip into a shop, it’s opposite the police station and there were plenty of people around.

“It can happen at any time and Nantwich is a trusting community. It was a devastating ordeal.

“I really don’t know, and it’s hard to think about, but I don’t know what was worse, seeing they were gone or calling Charlotte. We did as much as we could as early as we could and we have them home.”

Three Stoke-on-trent defendants – a man, woman and a 14-year-old boy – have appeared in court in connection with the incident.
