THE mum of a missing Stoke-ontrent man is calling for the public’s help locating her son after he left a psychiatric hospital.

Thomas Sockett has not been seen after he left Cygnet Hospital, in Derby, on Thursday.

The 29-year-old had been on a facetime call with his mum Paula Smith at around 2.10pm that day and says he ‘seemed alright’.

But Thomas, who was sectioned to stay at the hospital under the mental health act, left the facility around an hour later and has not been seen since. Now Paula says Thomas is ‘vulnerable’ and she is concerned for his safety.

The 47-year-old, from Smallthorne, said: “He’s been doing really well in hospital, it’s the best place for him at the moment. I’m concerned for his safety. He has absconded from hospital before, but he came straight to my address, but he just hasn’t turned up this time. “I don’t know what state of mind he is in. He usually always rings me or gets in touch somehow. He’s vulnerable, I just keep crying hoping he turns up.

“I just want to hear that he is ok. This is the longest he has gone without getting touch, we’re very close. I just want to make sure he is safe and ok. It’s incredibly worrying.

I’m worried he won’t be able to get the help he needs while he’s out in the world.”

Paula says Thomas was wearing a grey hoodie and grey jogging bottoms during their facetime call.

He has short dark brown hair, his left ear pierced and a tattoo on the back of his neck saying ‘Stoke’.

He also walks with a distinctive limp. Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting incident number 744 by calling 101, sending a private Facebook message to /Derbyshireconstabulary, sending a Twitter message to @ Derpolcontact, or www.derbyshire. police.uk/contact-us.
