WELL-WISHERS have donated thousands of pounds to a fundraising appeal in memory of a six-year-old girl who died after she was hit by a car.

The fund set up by Sharlotte Naglis’s uncle Scott Reynolds had last night raised more than £8,500 in less than 48 hours.

Sharlotte died following the collision, which happened while she was walking with her dad in Endon Road, Norton Green, at about 7.15pm on Saturday.

Money donated to Scott’s appeal – which has a target of £10,000 – will be put towards Sharlotte’s funeral and a memorial to her.

Scott wrote: “Sharlotte was only six when her dreams got crushed on June 19. At 7.15pm a car came onto the pavement, killed Sharlotte instantly, and badly hurt her father’s leg too.

“Her family want to live up to Sharlotte’s dream, she always said ‘Mummy if I die and I’m with the angels looking after you. Can I go up like a princess with horses’.

“This happy, smiley, bubbly little girl was the light of so many lives and so very loved by all her family and friends.

“Sharlotte deserves a send-off fit for a princess and if you can help or contribute in any way, however small, please do so.”

St Anne’s CE Primary School in Brown Edge, where Sharlotte was a pupil, is rallying round her family.

In a statement, headteacher Edward Hobson and deputy headteacher Alexa Turner said: “Sharlotte was a happy, bubbly, friendly member of the school and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Our love and thoughts are with Sharlotte’s family and friends at this distressing time, and we know the strength and support within the Brown Edge community will be of comfort to them.”
