A POPULAR shopping village which has welcomed an influx of new retailers in the last 18 months is now almost completely full.

Trentham Shopping Village, based at the Trentham Estate, currently has an occupancy rate of 98.3 per cent after welcoming a mix of new businesses since the beginning of last year.

The site boasts 77 timber retail lodges which are home to a variety of brands – including Portmeirion, Mountain Warehouse, Regatta, Il Gusto and Doggie Fashions.

Other occupiers include cycling and running equipment retailer Peak: Run & Ride, above, The Beauty Outlet and Design 44.

The shopping village makes up the wider Trentham Estate, which attracts more than 3.2 million visitors a year.

Gareth Hine, senior asset manager at the Stone Road attraction, says the shopping village’s ‘offline’ retail experience is proving a hit with visitors.

Gareth said: “Since the start of 2021 we’ve completed 16 new leases at Trentham Shopping Village, with another soon to complete.

“It’s always exciting to welcome new arrivals, and we’re also proud of our track record of retaining many of our existing businesses, having completed 10 lease renewals over the same time frame, and six currently in progress.

“Inevitably, in the last 18 months we’ve had just a handful of tenants leave when their leases have expired.

“We have been fortunate to quickly re-let all of these spaces to new occupiers.”

He added: “People love shopping offline at Trentham, where they can enjoy a relaxed and varied retail experience, along with a choice of fantastic eateries and the opportunity to explore our renowned gardens.

“It’s this mix that makes Trentham so popular with people of all ages, from families with young children to retirees. That, coupled with a range of events, free parking and accessibility, make it an incredibly desirable location.

“Part of our secret is the full retail and leisure experience we offer.

“We provide people with an attractive alternative to online shopping, and with reports that many people will begin Christmas shopping earlier this year, we are looking forward to a successful festive period.”
