DABBERS PEGGED BACK BY LATE GOAL WHILE BORO DRAW BLANK

- Non-league round-up

NANTWICH Town had to be content with a point from a 1-1 home draw with Warrington Town in the Northern Premier League top flight.

The Dabbers took a 23rd-minute lead when Troy Bourne’s header was inexplicably fumbled by Warrington keeper Dan Atherton and Joel Stair had the simple task of tapping home.

Dan Cockerline was posing problems for the visitors’ defence, but couldn’t find the goal his performance deserved.

Dave Cooke’s men were forced into a reshuffle because of injuries, and Warrington gradually came into the game.

And they levelled in the 71st minute when Jordan Buckley produced a tidy finish.

The visitors upped the ante in the closing stages, but Nantwich held form for a share of the spoils. Nantwich are in 12th place in the table, with Warrington sitting in sixth. STAFFORD RANGERS picked up a point from their trip to Mickleover Sports. The match finished 0-0. KIDSGROVE ATHLETIC were beaten 3-0 at Marine in the NPL West Division.

For second-placed Marine it maintained their unblemished home record - it was their fourth successive victory - to leave them in second. Grove, in ninth, fell behind in the 13th minute when Niall Cummins found the back of the net.

They stayed in the contest, but two second-half goals in the space of five minutes scuppered their chances of earning anything from the game.

Neil Kengi made it 2-0 on 57 minutes and moments later wrapped up the points with his side’s third of the evening. NEWCASTLE TOWN also had a disappointing evening as they lost 2-0 at Runcorn Linnets. Runcorn’s Oladapo Olarewaju posed problems on the right-hand side all night for Castle – and two first-half goals settled the issue.

Ryan Brooke scored twice - in the 14th and 22nd minutes - to leave Castle with an uphill task. They battled gamely, but couldn’t find a way past the Linnets defence.
