UP TO 50 apprenticeship vacancies are up for grabs at some of Staffordshire’s top employers. Achieve Training has a record number of apprenticeship opportunities available at bigname companies at the moment – including Churchill China, Portmeirion, Aspire Housing, Toyota, Solidor and Povey’s Oatcakes.

And there’s a wide range of roles available across a variety of industries such as customer services, manufacturing, property maintenance, painting and decorating, business admin and metal finishing.

Dan Canavan, executive director of Achieve Training, said: “It’s fantastic to see local businesses bouncing back after such a tough year, and this latest influx of apprenticeship opportunities is a great indicator that things are starting to look up again.

“We have more than 50 vacancies live on our website at the moment. I’ve been involved with Achieve Training for 25 years, and in that time I don’t think we have ever had this many vacancies come up at one time – especially of this quality.”

He added: “Every vacancy is an unmissable opportunity for somebody to learn vital skills, to gain valuable experience, achieve highly sought-after qualifications, and ultimately to start a brand-new career.

“There are young people throughout Staffordshire who may have just left school, or decided college wasn’t for them, or opted against a few more years of classroom education at university – people who are looking to take their next steps in life and start a career.

“Now, thanks to employers all over Staffordshire, dozens of those opportunities are available and just waiting for the right person.”

Marketing assistant Ellie Moston, aged 17, is currently undertaking a business administration apprenticeship with Achieve

Training’s sister company, Aspire Housing.

Ellie said: “When my last year of school finished early due to the pandemic, I felt like I’d lost control over my life. I had to think about the next step in my career earlier than expected and felt confused about what I wanted to do.

“I got an opportunity to complete an apprenticeship within Aspire Housing’s marketing team – and it turned out to be one of the best things I have done. It’s been an amazing journey so far and my team are so helpful and approachable.

“Friends and family have noticed that my confidence and independence has grown, and people have asked me about apprenticeships and what I do, because they can see the difference that it’s made.

“I now feel as though I have regained control over my life.”
