VIEWERS EXCITED AS FILMING FOR THE FIFTH SERIES OF C4’S GREAT POTTERY THROW DOWN IS COMPLETE

-

GREAT Pottery Throw Down fans are excited – as filming has been completed on the new Channel 4 series.

The popular pottery competition show has announced that filming has finished on the fifth series.

Filmed at Gladstone Pottery Museum, in Longton, the show has followed in the Great British Bake Off’s (GBBO) footsteps and become a huge hit with viewers.

The show posted on social media: “Kiln you believe it?! We’ve just wrapped on a brand new series of The Great Pottery Throw Down.”

No broadcast date has been confirmed just yet, but it is hoped that the show will return in 2022, and fans are already keen to see the new potters.

Returning as judges are master potter and fan favourite Keith Brymer Jones and potter Richard Miller, who joined the show in series four earlier this year.

Host Siobhán Mcsweeney has thanked comedian Ellie Taylor for filling in for her on some of the new episodes.

Ellie took the helm while Siobhán recovered from breaking her leg back in August, and revealed it was ‘one of the most fun jobs’ she’d ever had.

Siobhán posted on Twitter: “So excited to get back to the Pottery. I can’t wait for you all to meet our fabulous potters.

This one is going to be special.”

The show originally started on BBC, but moved to Channel 4 along with GBBO for the third series in 2020.

Hundreds of excited viewers have taken to social media to say they ‘can’t wait’ for the new episodes to be back on TV.

Pottery finalist Adam, who lost out to NHS nurse Jodie in the final stages of the competition when the show aired earlier this year, posted: “I can’t wait to meet the new potters, and enjoy with zero of the mad panic.”

One viewer said: “Can’t wait for the new series and Keith’s emotional moments.”

Another added: “I can’t wait. It’s what my eyes were made for.”

GLADSTONE Pottery Museum has reopened to the public - as filming for the new series of The Great Pottery Throw Down has come to an end.

The Longton museum – which was also one of the film-sets for The Colour Room – will now be open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday. The cafe will operate from 11am to 3.30pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Councillor Lorraine Beardmore, Stoke-on-trent City Council’s cabinet member for culture, said: “Films like The Colour Room are an amazing boost for tourism and the local economy and that’s why we love to shine a light on Stoke-on-trent and promote it as a must-visit destination.”
