FLORIST AMY’S A BUDDING SINGER
Jingle Bell Rock video a hit with customers
A VILLAGE florist has taken to social media to advertise her products in a unique and entertaining way – by recording a live video of herself singing a Christmas song.
Amy Gough even got her mum Jackie involved as the pair sang their version of Jingle Bell Rock.
In the video posted on their Facebook page, the mother and daughter duo encourage customers to pop into The Enchanted Florist, in Milton, for their Christmas decorations.
This is Amy’s second year in the Millrise Road shop and last year she impressed customers with her rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas.
The 36-year-old told The Sentinel: “It’s our way of engaging with our customers. We had to choose what song we could change and add our own words to and this one only took 45 minutes to come up with the lyrics.
“Making the video was so much fun and we couldn’t stop laughing. We did a couple of practice tests first and then we went live with it.
“Everybody loved it. Loads of people engaged with it. We had loads of comments, phone calls and messages.”
The coronavirus pandemic left the florists without any stock and they were forced to close for a month before reopening their doors.
Despite this, they have worked hard to get themselves back on their feet and have been busy in the run-up to Christmas as they were the chosen florist for the Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall this year.
Amy added: “We’ve got door wreaths, plants and planters. We have Christmas balls and indoor decorations – there’s all sorts of things.
“We love Christmas. All the family get together and everybody is in a much better spirit.
“Overall, we’ve had a lot of support and we have been doing really well.
“As a business, we do a lot for the community. We do little giveaways or I’ll make bouquets and hide them around the village for people to find. We did little things at Easter and went to random houses and left gifts on doorsteps.
“Because people couldn’t see each other during the pandemic, they started sending flowers as little gifts. We ended up being so busy we were out nearly every day doing 20-odd deliveries all around the city. That was lovely.
“We always say that people are more than welcome to pop in, even if it’s just to say hello or have a browse.
“Everybody is welcome and we are grateful for any support. It would be lovely if you could help support local businesses, especially at this time.”
