STORE THIEF HAD CHOCOLATE IN HER PUSHCHAIR HOOD

-

THIEF Noemi Khan was caught red-handed stealing goods from a store.

The 33-year-old, pictured, placed £53.78 worth of goods in a pushchair and tried to walk out of the self service tills at Tesco, Longton, without paying for them.

But an alert store detective stopped her and recovered the goods.

Prosecutor Simon Dykes said Khan was at Tesco, Longton, with her mother on April 9 when she committed the theft.

“She selected toiletries and chocolate and placed them in the hood of the pushchair. She went through the self service checkouts without offering payment,” he said.

Khan was stopped and the store recovered the goods worth £53.78.

Khan, of Christchurch Street, Fenton, pleaded guilty to theft.

The court heard Khan has been in the country for 12 years and has no convictions or cautions.

It was an impulsive crime and she remained at the scene and cooperated with the store detective and police.

Magistrates sentenced Khan to a 12-month conditional discharge. She was ordered to pay a £22 surcharge and £135 costs.
