‘Village café was a welcome sight’

-

MY friend and I decided to

do a cycle ride from Audley to the historic village of Penkhull.

This involved travelling through Alsagers Bank and Scot Hay to Silverdale and on to the old railway track which is popular for walkers and cyclists.

We continued our journey through Lymedale Park, once again popular with walkers and cyclists.

Then came the lungbusting ride up to Penkhull but we were very pleased to find a much-needed café at the old school.

The café provides good food and drink, with some of the food homemade.

The staff, who are volunteers, are friendly and welcoming.

Many thanks to all the staff and I hope to see you all on a regular basis.

The building was originally due to be demolished so

I’d like to thank heritage enthusiasts Dr Richard Tabot and Bruce Jervis whose hard work enabled it to become a Grade II listed building.
