DRIVER ‘DIDN’T REALISE HE WAS OVER LIMIT’

-

DRUG-DRIVER Jack Crewe has been hit with a 12-month driving ban.

The 24-year-old was seen driving a vehicle in Dividy Road, Bentilee, at 7.05pm on November 4.

Police spoke to him when his vehicle came to a natural stop. Officers could smell cannabis and he provided a positive roadside drugs swipe. A sample of blood was taken in custody and it gave a reading of 7 for cannabis, against the legal limit of 2.

Crewe, of Hazel Road, Chesterton, pleaded guilty to drug-driving. Joanne Corbett, mitigating, said Crewe decided to drive and did not realise he would be over the limit.

Magistrates fined Crewe £120 and ordered him to pay £135 costs and a £34 surcharge.
