CITY CENTRE TO GET ‘AUTHENTIC’ TASTE OF JAMAICAN CUISINE

-

A FORMER Indian takeaway is being turned into a Jamaican restaurant and rum bar.

Hamilton Bay - which will serve authentic Jamaican cuisine, coffee and rum - is set to open in Piccadilly, Hanley.

Work is already underway to transform the unit, which used to be home to the Zazaz Fusion takeaway. An opening date for Hamilton Bay is yet to be announced, but a sign on the venue says ‘coming soon’.

It comes as Hamilton Bay has applied to Stoke-ontrent

City Council for a premises licence to serve alcohol and put on live music and entertainment at the venue.

Neighbouring businesses can’t wait for it to open and say it will be a fantastic addition to the already flourishing cultural quarter.

Landlady of The Unicorn, Tracey Bowen, said: “All the businesses down here offer something different. You can have a proper night out down Piccadilly.”

The public consultation on the plans runs until today.
