THE BIG BUILD-UP STARTS AS DATE FOR TV SHOW REVEALED
Nick Knowles and DIY SOS renovated site in city
PRODUCERS have revealed when the Stoke-on-trent edition of BBC DIY SOS is being screened.
Presenter Nick Knowles and his team were in Fegg Hayes earlier this year for a two-week big build.
Now the BBC has revealed is to air the show on Tuesday, June 7. The entire series is on iplayer from Tuesday, May 10.
Nick said: “I’m so excited that we are bringing a series of brand new episodes to air which were filmed before, during and after the pandemic.
“You can expect the usual camaraderie with lots of emotion and laughter.
“So many people turned out to help communities and families in need despite their own challenges and suppliers have been so generous. It has been really life-affirming.
“DIY SOS has always been about helping each other which for me was also the story of lockdown, so this is a celebration of people’s fortitude and generosity.
“We live in a hugely generous society and it’s good to be reminded of that in among all the bad news we’ve all had to endure.”
DIY SOS has aired more than 200 episodes during its 23-year run.
Executive producer Paolo Proto said: “The last two years have been incredibly hard which makes the selfless acts of the volunteers and trades that turn up and work on a DIY SOS build even more amazing.
“I’m immensely proud of the DIY SOS team and the wonderful communities who came together to create positive change.
“As always, people are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re really championing ordinary people doing extraordinary things across the UK.”
Viewers will see Nick and the team descend on a site off Oxford Road, Fegg Hayes.
Their challenge was to turn the land into a community facility for the Fegg Hayesbased Sylvester Community Trust.
