Art students’ first show since 2019
Excitement at return of university’s annual exhibition
FIRST and second year fine art students are staging an end of year exhibition of their work.
Called (im)possibilities, the two-day show takes place at Staffordshire University tomorrow and Saturday.
The event, in the Cadman Studios at the College Road campus, is the first post-covid public exhibition by the BA fine art students.
It marks the culmination of their most recent works, in media including painting, sculpture, projection and digital media. Themes range from investigation of fairy tales and whimsy to examining mental health, family life and identity.
Course leader Dr Michael Day said it was ‘fantastic’ to see students staging public exhibitions again after two years of lockdown restrictions. He added: “They’ve shown such resilience and creativity during a challenging couple of years, and this is a great opportunity to celebrate their artistic successes.”
The exhibition is open from 5pm-8pm tomorrow and on Saturday from 11am-3pm.
The artists will be available to welcome visitors and discuss their work in detail.
Anna Francis, Associate Professor of Fine Art and Social Practice Fine Art, said: “This is particularly exciting as we have been unable to hold our usual annual first and second year art shows for the past two years.”
The exhibition is open to all – although it deals with sensitive issues that might not be suitable for younger viewers. To book a ticket search for (im)possibilities at eventbrite.co.uk
