MAN REPEATEDLY PUNCHED HIS BROTHERS AND HELD KNIFE TO THROAT OF ONE IN A ROW ABOUT INTERNET

-

DRUG user Adam Stonier left his brother requiring hospital treatment after he lost control in the family home.

The 23-year-old went into a rage after his siblings rowed about the internet not working.

He repeatedly punched one brother and brandished a knife. He then punched another brother twice before waving a hammer in the front garden.

Now Stonier has been jailed for seven months at Stoke-on-trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Mark Brookes said the defendant moved back into the family home in Blythe Bridge.

“Two brothers argued about the internet not working. The defendant hit one brother really hard. He put a knife to his brother’s throat,” he said. “The defendant got on top of his brother and started to rain down punches on top of his head causing pain. He tried to get away, but the defendant took hold of him and threw punches. He banged his head against the floor.”

The other brother took hold of the knife and threw it away. He was punched twice to the left side of his face. Their mum arrived home and could see the defendant in the front garden with a hammer.

The first victim was left with a 1cm gash on his left eyelid and a stab wound to his left elbow. In a victim statement, he said it was the most scared he has been and he feared for his life. He added: “I never want to see him again. I want him as far away as possible.”

Stonier, formerly of Ridgway Drive, Blythe Bridge, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault, affray, and having an offensive weapon, a hammer, in public.

Recorder Julian Taylor said: “This was a thoroughly unpleasant incident. Your family do not want any more to do with you.”
