A struggling shopping centre with 13 empty units is going under the hammer - for £650,000. The Roebuck Shopping Centre - in Newcastle town centre - used to be home to big-name brands Next, Argos and Bonmarche. But they have all quit in recent years to leave 13 of the 17 units lying empty. Now the shopping centre is going up for auction later this month with a guide price of between £650,000 and £700,000. Acuitus auctioneers are confident that the centre will be snapped up. It currently produces an annual income of £102,416 and is linked to the 655-space Midway car park. Acuitus investment director John Mehtab said: “Investor appetite for shopping centres with large in-town footprints has been strong in recent months. This property offers current income and the potential for active asset management.” Current tenants includes Iceland and Lloyds Bank.
