VALIANTS DELAY RELEASING PLAY-OFF TICKETS FOR CRUNCH SWINDON CLASH

- Michael Baggaley PORT VALE

PORT Vale have changed plans to put tickets for their play-off semi-final home leg with Swindon Town on sale this morning as they discuss their options.

The Vale are taking on the Robins over two legs, at the County Ground on Sunday (noon), then back at Vale Park on Thursday, May 19 (7.45pm).

The club had originally announced that tickets for the home leg would go on sale today, and then the away leg on Wednesday.

But they have announced they are looking at alternative ticketing arrangements and so the tickets for the home leg will no longer be on sale this morning.

They are set to issue an update today which will include details of away ticket sales and whether Wednesday will be the confirmed date for those.

Vale said on Sunday: “Following a planning meeting with the board, the club are looking at alternative ticketing arrangements for our Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final against Swindon Town – as a result tickets will no longer go on sale at 9am tomorrow morning (Monday 9th May), but will be available as soon as arrangements are confirmed.

“The date and kick off time of the fixture will remain unaffected. Thank you for your continued support. UTV!”

Both legs are being screened live by Sky Sports. The winners will get through to Wembley on Saturday, May 28 to play the winners of the Northampton v Mansfield game.

But even though the game is being shown live on TV, there is likely to be huge demand. Vale’s home game with Newport last week was also shown live on Sky but Vale sold out all home ends before the day of the game.

Swindon earned their place in the play-offs with a 3-0 win at Walsall. Former Vale forward Harry Mckirdy scored his 21st goal of the

season as the Robins got the victory they needed, in front of 3,500 travelling supporters.

Their head coach Ben Garner said: ““I’m just happy to be there.

“I think the overriding feeling on

the morning of the game was that I felt confident in the group that we would do it.

“I just wanted them to get what they deserved. If we hadn’t have made it, it would have been very

cruel given the season that we’ve had and the amount of effort that’s gone in.

“I’m really pleased that we’re there, and now we can go and attack the play-offs.”
