HOME SUCCESS FOR AUDLEM AS THEY SEE OFF RIVALS AUDLEY

AUDLEM made home advantage count to beat Audley thirds in NSSCL Division Seven.

Callum Mcilveen (36) and Ron Paul (26) were the main contributo­rs to Audlem’s 159-9 from their 40 overs. Lucy Shenton (3-15) and John Shenton (3-25) were the stars with the ball. In reply, Ben Forster (42) and Charles Birkin (31) led the Audley chase, but three wickets apiece from Mcilveen (3-14), Simon Swift (3-17) and Neil Humphries (3-23) dismissed the visitors for 124.

Checkley thirds banked the points from their home meeting with Sandbach seconds.

Joseph Lawton’s 52, which contained five fours, formed the backbone of Checkley’s 165-6. There was good support provided by Jason Carrigan (43) and Andrew Eccles (36). Sandbach made a decent start to their reply as they reached 37-0, but then Checkley fought back. Jack Farrington took 4-12 as Sandbach were all out for 91. Cheadle seconds eased to an eight-wicket win on their trip to Onneley 2nd XI. Matthew Degg scooped 4-4 to limit Onneley to 62 all out, in which Tom Johnson made 17 and Kyle Knowles added 12. Cheadle needed just 15.1 overs to knock off the runs as Joshua Jackson compiled an unbeaten 25. Porthill Park fourths won by two wickets at Rode Park & Lawton seconds.

Gary Jennison and Paul Chadwick made 43 and 41 respective­ly in Rode Park & Lawton’s 149-6. Oliver Clarke captured 3-16 after tea, but Porthill Park managed to chalk up the win with three balls remaining. Alex Lockett’s 45 and 35 from Calum Bilton proved to be the difference. Kidsgrove picked up a threewicke­t victory at Wood Lane seconds. Matthew Hagan (28) and Levi Smith (22) helped Wood Lane to 125 all out. Danny Roberts (3-11) and Ian Bailey (3-27) did the damage.

Hagan captured 3-23 in Grove’s reply, but Adam Shaw’s 36, Thomas Plant’s 25 and an unbeaten 21 from James Green guided Kidsgrove to their target. Woore defeated Endon. Andy Kenvyn’s 35 was backed up by Andrew Burton’s 33 as Woore made progress to 167-9. Endon were bowled out for 98. Michael Griffiths (3-3), Martin Harper (3-9) and Amy Griffiths (3-30) were the stars of the show.
