JUMPING FOR JOY!
‘Happy, confident learners’ celebrate their school’s second ‘good’ rating in a row
PRIMARY school pupils are celebrating their school’s second ‘good’ ranking in a row.
Youngsters at Great Wood Primary School, Tean, are ‘happy, enthusiastic and confident learners’ whose teachers plan ‘exciting lessons’, Ofsted inspectors revealed.
They delivered their verdict – the same as at its 2015 inspection – after visiting the Vicarage Road school. The ranking is one rung below Ofsted’s top grade of outstanding.
They also spoke to parents/ carers, staff, pupils and trustees from The Moorlands Primary Federation (TMPF), which the school has worked with since January 2015.
School leader Ben Adamson said: “We are so proud of all of the pupils and each member of the team for their hard work and commitment to their school, and of our strong community links.
“The judgement is great news which we will celebrate as a school family. It is so pleasing to see recognition that pupils are happy, feel safe, and enjoy learning here at Great Wood Primary.”
Trust board chair Nick Chesters said they were ‘very proud’ of the children for showing how much they enjoy learning, and of parents and carers for supporting the school.
Moorlands Primary Federation chief executive Jared Eccles said the ranking was brilliant news.
“The school is a happy place at the heart of its community,” he added.
“It was remarkable that two of TMPF’S five schools underwent Ofsted inspections at the same time, and the children, parents, carers and wider family members were brilliant throughout both.
“We are delighted that through the skill and commitment of colleagues in these schools, and those in our other trust schools who took time to come over and meet with inspectors, or offered support in other ways.”
The inspectors’ report said: “Pupils are happy, enthusiastic and confident learners. Teachers plan exciting lessons and develop pupils’ skills and knowledge in a wide range of subjects.
“Leaders have high expectations of pupils. They have created a highly inclusive school in which all pupils thrive and achieve well.
“Staff encourage pupils to be responsible, caring and ambitious.”
